Miss B in the Pink Hat

I will admit it. For the last 3.5 years I have shot only in auto mode. I know I know, terrible, bad, slap me on the wrist. To be honest, manual mode scared the pants off of me. I just figured it would be so much easier to just let the camera pick the right settings. After all, that is what its for right? Wrong. This year, my goal for 2014 is revamping my business. I began doing business research, better photo research, and so on. I soon realized all these amazing photographers I admired had such wonderful images that I envyed. Perfect exposure, clarity, everything. Dont get me wrong, I love my work. I love the images I am able to capture for people. The emotion in a lifestyle or engagement shoot. The joy of a 1 year old smashing their first birthday cake. I love every image I take. But there was just something about these other photographers images that looked better. I know photoshop does play a part, that is why we use this awesome tool that I couldn't live without. So what were they doing different? Shooting in manual. Yes. Like it or not, if I wanted better images, I had to do it. So- first goal for 2014: LEARN MANUAL MODE! I've spend every waking moment the past few weeks researching the dreading "M" word. Of course practice is key and I have lots to learn yet, but this first session I did of my sweet B modeling a hat for Racheal's Baby Boutique (Check her shop out on Etsy, Adorable knitted products not only for baby, but for teens & adults as well) totally changed my perspective on how I have been shooting & how I will shoot from now on. The dreaded manual no more! I want to go back and re-shoot every session I have ever done. I am in love.

A Rainy Day Agenda! { Charleston Photography }

It's surely not uncommon to say as a Charlestonion,  "It's raining! I guess we will have to wait for our girls day out!" Well Ashley and Liz say don't let those rainy Charleston weekends ruin your day! These lovely ladies showed me a few places right downtown sure to brighten your rainy day blues!  Eclectic Cafe & Vinyl This cafe was such a cool spot. Grab an espresso (or my case, iced coffee) and a book, or get lost in conversation in the couch area. There is also the coolest little corner hosting a record player with an amazing selection of vinyls. Slap on those headphones and get lost in the music! Gnome Cafe This cafe is such a ray of sunshine! Literally! The inside is so lovely with brightly colored decor, it's sure to bring sunshine to even the rainiest day. Their plant-based menu has everything from salads to sandwiches to deserts!  SYG designs Just down from Gnome is a plant covere

2 Best Friends + 2 High Schools = GRADUATION

This time 14 YEARS ago, yours truly was preparing for life after graduation. It seems so unreal. I can remember getting our outfits together for graduation pictures and deciding what time we were going to meet because of course we had to go together! We would meet that day at our high school, stand posed for outdoor "casual" photos first, then head to the library for our "formal" shots. I am pretty sure that is the same routine now a days. BUT not for these lovely ladies! Last weekend, I met these two beautiful young ladies, best friends graduating from 2 different high schools. We met at Mepkin Abbey  in Monks Corner SC. What an amazing setting as you can see! I had no problem getting laughs from these two and their true personalities came pouring out in each image! They just flowed together so well, I could see why they were best friends! I had so much fun with these young ladies and a HUGE Congrats to them on their graduation! Aren't they b

Lipstik Girls!

Bethany had an amazing opportunity to model for  Lipstik Girls Clothing  2014 Elisa B. line! From the time she began working with  Gooma Models  she has wanted to work with this company. Their clothing line for young girls is simply stunning. I was super excited for her to have this opportunity! We chose a downtown / urban style setting for this shoot. I must tell you IT WAS HOT! We were roasting. We kept pushing on and after a few hours, we had finished this amazing shoot. UPDATE: The first image was listed on Itsy.com for Lipstik Girls / Elisa B. clothing. Shreek! You girls truly deserved it!
