A Day at Boone Hall Plantation

All images copyright JenniferCollinsPhotography 2018 I have lived about 1.5 miles from  Boone Hall Plantation  for the past 4 years. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago I was able to experience this amazing place full of history and charm. Founded in 1861 by Englishman Major John Boone, Boone Hall Plantation is located in Mount Pleasant South Carolina just off of Highway 17. It is home to intriguing southern history, beautiful grounds, and the location of several movie locations including The Notebook, North and South, and Alex Haley’s Queen.  Top image by me, bottom image scene from The Notebook. We decided on a beautiful Saturday in August for our trip & saved a little time by purchased our tickets online prior to our trip. Tickets were $24 for ages 13-64 yrs and included: Entry to Boone Hall Plantation down the world famous Avenue of Oaks Plantation House Tour Black History In America Exhibit Plantation Coach Tour (weather permitting) Slave Street and History Tour Exp...

Exploring Saint Augustine, Florida

This year for my birthday, we decided to take a girls trip down to St Augustine, Florida! I’m a sucker for a historic city and St Augustine definitely fits that description!  Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers, it is the oldest occupied European- established settlement within the continental US.  There is so much to explore & experience in St Augustine, that we definitely didn’t get to see everything! We will definitely be returning in the future, but until then, here are some of our favorites in St Augustine! Where we stayed: Ocean Sands Beach Inn This hotel was just perfect for our stay! With everything from the convenient pool, easy parking, continental breakfast to the friendly and helpful staff! Not to mention the hotels private beach just across the street! Stay tuned for a full detailed post of our stay coming soon! Which brings us to.. Vilano Beach! This beach was so beautiful and relaxing! The sand in some areas was actually s...

A Girls Weekend in Helen GA!

All images ©Jennifer Collins Photography unless otherwise noted. Who doesn't love a fun getaway with your girlfriends? I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a fun, relaxing, and adventurous getaway with some lovely ladies to a very interesting little town. Helen GA was quite an adventure! This little German inspired town with a population of around 542, is located in northern Georgia along theChattahoochie River.  Our home away from home was this cozy little cabin by  Cabin Rentals of Helen  . We had a sweet little studio cabin with a full kitchen. A large front porch with hot tub gave way for amazing relaxation surrounded by the beautiful forest! Let's Eat! Helen is full of fun and interesting places to eat! Everything from pub dining to German inspired eating! There are so many amazing places here and I can't wait to get back to try more! Here are a few places we dined that I highly recommend trying!  Breakfast:  Hofers Bakery & Cafe   German eatery...
