A Year for Lasts

This year, I realized will be a year of lasts- so to speak. Bethany started 6th grade. Her school is an intermediate school and only attended by 5th/6th graders. Next year, my baby will officially be in middle school. Even as I sit here typing this post I just can't believe it. She and I both had a realization shock last week when riding past the High School she will attend I say, "Do you realize in 3 years you will be in high school?!" She apparently hadnt given much thought to the idea with her "nuh uh" response. I proceeded to inform her "yes you will. 6th, 7th, 8th. Then high school." At that moment it hit and we gave each other horrifying looks. She can't be this old. The baby girl i used to watch sleep at night. The one I took pictures of with baby food all over her face in her high chair. The one I cried for on her first day of "big kid school". The baby girl who I didn't think was old enough for anything. But she is. And no matter how much I hate it or wish I could freeze time... It still ticks on.

As for Miss McKenzie, she begins her first week of 4k at her much loved daycare. She has been with these amazing ladies since she was 6 weeks old. They have been an amazing part of her life and I am thankful for them. She has known none other than them every day all her life to this point. They know her personality, her likes and dislikes, what she eats an doesn't- you name it. This place is her second home. But as her little life presses on, this too will. This time next year we will be dropping her off at "big school". I dread the thought. I'm not even sure I will be able to handle it. I can barely think about it much less handle it! She says she is ready but I can assure you, she will miss this place. The ladies she loves and her little friends she's known day in and day out since she was tiny. The little friends she grew up with. Her best friends as she calls them. And next year will begin a new year for many adventures, and friends to come!

Yep. This is a year of 'lasts' for us. So we are gonna make all the memories we can this year!

Lipstik Girls!

Bethany had an amazing opportunity to model for  Lipstik Girls Clothing  2014 Elisa B. line! From the time she began working with  Gooma Models  she has wanted to work with this company. Their clothing line for young girls is simply stunning. I was super excited for her to have this opportunity! We chose a downtown / urban style setting for this shoot. I must tell you IT WAS HOT! We were roasting. We kept pushing on and after a few hours, we had finished this amazing shoot. UPDATE: The first image was listed on Itsy.com for Lipstik Girls / Elisa B. clothing. Shreek! You girls truly deserved it!

2 Best Friends + 2 High Schools = GRADUATION

This time 14 YEARS ago, yours truly was preparing for life after graduation. It seems so unreal. I can remember getting our outfits together for graduation pictures and deciding what time we were going to meet because of course we had to go together! We would meet that day at our high school, stand posed for outdoor "casual" photos first, then head to the library for our "formal" shots. I am pretty sure that is the same routine now a days. BUT not for these lovely ladies! Last weekend, I met these two beautiful young ladies, best friends graduating from 2 different high schools. We met at Mepkin Abbey  in Monks Corner SC. What an amazing setting as you can see! I had no problem getting laughs from these two and their true personalities came pouring out in each image! They just flowed together so well, I could see why they were best friends! I had so much fun with these young ladies and a HUGE Congrats to them on their graduation! Aren't they b

A Rainy Day Agenda! { Charleston Photography }

It's surely not uncommon to say as a Charlestonion,  "It's raining! I guess we will have to wait for our girls day out!" Well Ashley and Liz say don't let those rainy Charleston weekends ruin your day! These lovely ladies showed me a few places right downtown sure to brighten your rainy day blues!  Eclectic Cafe & Vinyl This cafe was such a cool spot. Grab an espresso (or my case, iced coffee) and a book, or get lost in conversation in the couch area. There is also the coolest little corner hosting a record player with an amazing selection of vinyls. Slap on those headphones and get lost in the music! Gnome Cafe This cafe is such a ray of sunshine! Literally! The inside is so lovely with brightly colored decor, it's sure to bring sunshine to even the rainiest day. Their plant-based menu has everything from salads to sandwiches to deserts!  SYG designs Just down from Gnome is a plant covere
