Surprise Proposal - Kyle & Kam {Charleston, SC Photography}

Guys. Seriously take note here. If you are planning to propose, or even thinking about it, PLEASE hire a photographer to capture that once in a lifetime moment! Trust me, your future fiance will love you even more for it. This young man contacted me a week before his trip to The Tipsy Pearl stay on Folly Beach with his girlfriend. He was going to propose on the beach and wanted me to capture the moment. Let me tell you, this was one of the most special sessions I have done yet. Yes, I had a tear or two! But the best part about this shoot... she said YES!

Top Knot Style { #WCW Series }

About, mmm, a year or so ago, give or take, I received an email from a local fashion blogger semi new to the area. She was looking for a local photographer for her style blog images. We didn't know each other at all but decided to meet for an initial trial shoot and see if we were a good fit for each others work. Since that day, not only have Alexandria and I been making beautiful posts, but a new friendship was started! Well, today, that beautiful blogger, dancer, mama, fashionista, & friend is celebrating her birthday into a new era! I wish her all the joy and love today as she and her sweet family travels to DISNEY to celebrate!

Here are some of my favorite images I've created of Alexandria, starting with her birthday shoot last week! Be sure to swing over and check out her blog, and see all the fun this chick as on a daily basis!

Seaside Inn, Sanibel Island Florida

This is probably going to sound quite sad, but prior to our recent trip to Sanibel Isle Florida, my husband and I had not taken a vacation without the kids alone since our honeymoon 7 years ago. Life gets in the, family, yada yada. So this year I decided to make all that change. I love to travel. I grew up traveling. It's in my blood to travel. My husband..not so much. But I knew with all the stresses of life, he and I needed a getaway! ASAP. Florida is one of my absolute favorite states. I lived in Key West once upon a time for 3 years and I fell in love way back then. I am also one to try new places when I travel, not just go to the same place over and over, even though I do have my favorites to revisit occasionally! Sanibel Island. I spotted this beauty online and that was it! Such a tropical little island full of seaside beauty. Also known for its shells! After making the "where to" decision, I decided upon the Seaside Inn for lodging because it appeared to be a quite, tranquil hotel with as their logo reads, "olde island charm". Just what we needed!

We arrived about an hour early from our check in time of 3pm, but decided to head into the registration office anyway. Our room was already cleaned so they were kind enough to let us go ahead in since we had just driven 9 hours. As we made our way to our room, the hotel grounds certainty did not disappoint. The rooms surround the palm tree lined, heated outdoor pool and the beach was towards the back. Everything was so beautifully landscaped and clean!

Once we were in our room, I was pleasantly surprised! The room was equipped with a miniature kitchen stocked with everything we needed for our time there, as far as kitchenware goes that is (plates, cups, glasses, bowls, cutlery). We also had a toaster and coffee pot because who can live without that? In the mini fridge we found a basket full of breakfast goodies for the following morning.

Our room had a pool view, which was nice for enjoying our breakfast basket and coffee the following morning on the balcony.

The next morning we headed straight to the beach! The hotel provides beach loungers and umbrellas which was so nice. We sat for a few hours, played in the ocean like school kids, then headed for the pool. The hotel also provides beach towels and pool floats! How convenient!

At the end of our trip, we were able to squeeze in some time to ride the bicycles provided by the hotel! They had various sizes and styles to choose from..even those with baby seats and trailers attached! We took a ride down to the Sanibel Lighthouse (more on that beauty to come!). I enjoyed the quite peaceful ride down the tropical streets with the sounds of nature flowing around me.

Sadly, our trip ended in what felt like way to soon! Should you ever find yourself planning a trip to Sanibel Island Florida, and I highly recommend you do, I definitely recommend you check out the Seaside Inn. You wont be disappointed!

The Charleston Weekender { #WCW Series}

Just a few short months ago (wow, seems like forever ago!) I shot a random email to a local Charleston blogger about the possibility of collaborating. Most of you know her simply as, The Charleston Weekender. After seeing her blog and Instagram I, just had to! Never even thinking I would get a reply, she immediately shot me an email back requesting to meet and get some ideas flowing! The following week we meet for lunch at The Mixson Market (their chicken salad is to die for by the way). We connected instantly and have been making beautiful things happen every since!

Liz truly has a remarkable talent. She can take pretty much anything and create something so stunning. I must say, and I tell her so often, I am actually jealous of her networking ideas and creativity! The ideas that flow from her are so amazing and I am constantly saying "I wish I would've thought of that!" What? You haven't seen her work? Then you MUST do it now... well after you finish reading here of course! I am so thankful to be teaming up with her for great things to come. She compliments my own work in such an amazing way and I am blessed to have met her, not only as a teammate, but as a friend.

"There are no random meeting in our lives. Everyone we touch, and who touches us, has been put in our path for a reason."

These are some of my personal favorite projects Liz and I have created. Be sure to check her out on Instagram @charlestonweekender

Charleston, SC, #1 City in the World!

Oh. Em. Gee. I am positive by now you've heard the news. Travel + Leisure Magazine readers have voted our great city the 2016 #1 city in the world. In case you didn't see that, I said: THE WORLD! Whoo hoo! Total excitement going on over here! I'm sure by now if you follow my work and my Instagram account (and if you don't, you totally should @JCollinsPhotog) you know just how obsessed I am with this city. Every time I walk downtown, I am completely blown away by the fact that I am so fortunate enough to call this amazing place home. The history.. the beauty.. the architecture.. everything about this place amazes me. It truly is like living in a dream for me. The years I spent growing up here in Charleston, I never imagined just how much I would come to love this place as an adult. There is beauty in everything I see when I look around me. So! As I do my own personal happy dance to celebrate our big news, I want to share with you some of my personal favorite images I have shot of Charleston! I hope you love them as much as I loved capturing them!

...And as my good friend Fitz says, "There's No Place Like Charleston."
